December 1, 1946 – November 8, 2025
Sudie Mae Ward 78 of Stamps, Arkansas, peacefully transitioned from this life on November 8, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend. She dedicated the majority of her life to being a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother. A woman of deep faith, she lived her life serving God and loving her family unconditionally. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Church of God in Christ for more than 50 years, where she served in multiple capacities, including Sunday School Teacher, Treasure, and Secretary.
She was born to the late Doyle Shaw Sr. and Alvester Washington Shaw on December 1, 1946, in Emerson, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Brian Keith Ward, one stepdaughter, Valerie Ward Guzman, two siblings, Betty Shaw Aubrey and Reverend Harold Shaw.
She was the proud graduate of Walker High School. In 1968, she married Wilson Ward, and to this union four children were born. In her early years, she worked at Magnolia Hospital, serving others with compassion and care. Later, she worked at Fred's and Lafayette County Library, where she served her community with a warm smile and helping hand. She had a joyful spirit and a heart that could fill any room. She loved viewing pictures, sharing scriptures on Facebook, and spending peaceful days fishing. Her famous big hugs were the kind that would shake you to your soul and make you feel truly loved. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel like family. She loved watching The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She loved sharing scriptures and surfing Facebook and fishing.
She leaves to treasure her memories and legacy of faith and love for her family: her husband, Wilson (Pete) Ward; and children: Lamecia Ward Pree, Gloria Ward of Hope, Wanda Ward of Stamps, Arkansas, and Arkansas and Willis Ward of Stamps, Arkansas. Two brothers; Doyle Shaw, Jr. (Doris) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Horace Shaw of Mesquite, Texas, Seven sisters; Mary Helen Joseph (Joseph) of Stamps, Arkansas, Erma Cooper (James) of Emerson, Arkansas, Patricia Bell (Marvin), Bonnie Hardwell, Vanessa Shaw all of Magnolia, Arkansas, Dorothy Witcher (Chester) of Rosston, Arkansas, Assunta Young (Mark) of Camden, Arkansas; Grandchildren; Jamal Ward (Tiffany) of Wake Village, Texas, Jamauryon (Kubryna) Pree of Arlington, Texas, Oshiana Pree of Texarkana, Texas, Halee Ward and Kristaryon Easter both of Hope, Arkansas. Courtney Martin of Houston, Texas, Centwrane Ward and Robert McCellan of Magnolia, Arkansas. Trichell McCellan and Briannia McCellan of Texarkana, Arkansas. Berander Russ of Texarkana, Arkansas, Brendan Fort Sr. of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Enochia Arnold of Camden, Arkansas. One Godson, Carlos Sims. One stepdaughter, Patricia McClellan of Texarkana, Arkansas, and one stepson, Wilson Ward, JR of Bakersfield, California. A host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, extended family members, and friends. Four special friends; Judy Tatum, Alvertera Bryant, Gladys Watson Ford, and the Sims Family.
Her service will be held at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas 71860 on Saturday November 22, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. There will be a public visitation on Friday November 21, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Interment will be immediately following her service on Saturday at Lakeside Cemetery Stamps, Arkansas.
