Mr. Olandus Tidwell
August 5, 1929 – May 7, 2022
Mr. Olandus Tidwell, 92, of Rosston, Arkansas passed away in Rosston, Arkansas late on the evening of May 7, 2022. He was born August 5, 1929, in Rosston, Arkansas to the late Mr. Charlie R. Tidwell and the late Mrs. Vira Mae Ollison – Tidwell.
Mr. Tidwell was a common man who didn’t like a lot of attention, just wanted things to be plain. Even in his elder years he still took the time to walk and try taking care of himself. He served the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Frederick Tidwell, one daughter, Gloria D. Elliot, one brother, Xavier Olen Tidwell and a sister, Oleria P. Burton.
He did his formal schooling in the Rosston area and went on to get a 2-year, degree from Shorter College.
He is survived by one son, Charles Tidwell, two daughters, LaSheka Gulley and Yolanda S. Gulley. Two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Tidwell and his wife Virginia and Calvin Tidwell with his wife, Charmaine, a sister-in-law, Carlene Tidwell, four grandchildren, Freda Elliot-Malone, Cody Jamaal Tidwell, Jayden Gulley and R’Landon Hardwell and one great grandchild, Jacole R. Elliot as well as a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
He worked for and retired from Firestone Rubber and Production Plant in Prescott, after he retired, he spent his time around the Masonic Lodge, hunting, fishing, watching racing, gardening, and fishing. He was an active member of Cana A.M.E. and Bethel A.M.E. Churches.
Funeral service will be held at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street; Stamps Arkansas, Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 am under the direction of Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home and Staff where Pastor Patrick Gulley will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. Interment will be at the Barksdale Cemetery Nevada County Rd 200 at Nevada County Rd at Nevada County Rd 430, Rosston, Arkansas 71858, immediately following the service. A walk-through visitation will be held at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas, Friday May 13, 2022, from 11:00 until 4:00 p.m.
Because of CDC guidelines from COVID and the rise of cases, all who intend to attend will be required to wear a mask and adhere to current social distancing guidelines.
