Mr. Lonnie Chambers
August 29, 1929 - December 29, 2023
Mr. Lonnie Chambers, 94, of Desoto, Texas, formerly of Waldo, Arkansas passed away peacefully in a Desoto Texas Nursing facility. Mr. Chambers was a hard-working man who loved his family and always provided what they needed. He was a loving son, husband, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Most importantly he was a Christian man who loved God.
Mr. Chambers was born to the late Mr. Caleb Chambers and the late Ms. Savannah Chambers. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined St. John Baptist Church. He later moved to Dallas, Texas where he joined Egypt Baptist Church where he served as a choir member.
He worked as a dry cleaner’s operator for many years and became one of the best cleaners where was very proud of his work. He worked in that profession until retiring. After he retired, he went back to work part-time for the North Texas Food Bank and did so until his health failed, and he was no longer able to serve people.
Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his only son, Lonnie Chambers, Jr, and all of his siblings, Mr. Willie James Chambers, Mr. Willie Author Chambers, Mr. Travis Chambers, Mr. William Otis Chambers, Ms. Mable Cole, Ms. Gladys Young, Ms. Willie Mae Morgan, Ms. Lorena Chambers and Ms. Mattie Lee Chambers.
He is survived by his two daughters, Ms. Ruth Ann Young and Ms. Laurita Young. One sister, Ms. Versie Chambers of Waldo Arkansas. Two grandchildren, Anthony Chambers and Derrick Ealim. Three great grandchildren, Kiandre Johnson, Zekevia Chambers, Shemar Chambers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
His service will be held Saturday January 13, 2024, at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas 71860 where the Rev. Donnie Cole will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. There will not be a public viewing until after the eulogy. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 917 East McKissick Street, Waldo, Arkansas 71770.
