Ms. Jo Ann Williams, 68, of Chester, Virginia formerly of Lewisville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2022 in Chester, Virginia. Jo Ann was born on February 12, 1954 in Hope, Arkansas. Ms. Williams graduated from Lewisville High school in 1972 as valedictorian and graduated from Arkansas AM & N College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) as cum laude in 1976. Ms. Williams retired from the Social Security Administration and worked as a teacher for several years.
Ms. Williams is survived by her sisters – Annie Bell Cole of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Lucy Williams, Toledo, Ohio, and Doris Williams, Chester, Virginia; a brother — Mozell Williams (Thelma) of West Memphis, Arkansas, a maternal aunt – Emma Jackson of Lewisville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish her memory.

Ms. Williams was an active member of the Courthouse Road church of Christ in Chester, Virginia. Jo Ann was a great cook who made a wonderful red velvet cake, pickle watermelon rinds and a fruit salad she called the “pink stuff”. Jo Ann loved attending blues festivals, listening to blues music, travelling and spending time with relatives and friends.
It is with much sadness that we mourn the loss of our sister Jo Ann Williams, a friend to many. Jo Ann loved attending church, loved her family and her friends including Brenda Moore who assisted with her care and Ms. Betty Johnson, a church member who checked on her weekly.
