Mr. James Draper, 86, of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Draper was a very private man who was very hard working and loved his family very much. He was employed by the Arkansas Highway Department of Transportation, where he worked until his retirement.

He was born to the late Mr. Morris Draper and the late Mrs. Kathleen Smith-Draper, September 16, 1937, in Saratoga, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, all his siblings, Mr. Rudolph Draper, Mr. Thomas Draper, Mrs. Dorothy Jean Cheatham, Mrs. Zester Edwards, and Mrs. Shirley Cheatham.

He is survived by all his children. Three sons, Mr. Perry (Lynette) Draper of Union City Tennessee, Mr. Denzil (Sheba) Draper of Nashville, Arkansas, and Mr. James Earl Draper of Mineral Springs, Arkansas. Three daughters, Mrs. Linda (John) Gamble of Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. Shirleen Hicks, of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, and Mrs. Carolyn (Charles) Ogden of Mineral Springs, Arkansas. Twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren. Special friends, Darnell Hopkins, Donnie Bearden, Tony Bearden, Shirley Cheatham, and Mike Erby. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and former co-workers.

Mr. Draper’s service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at Marantha Baptist Church, 3oo Trenton Blvd.; Nashville, Arkansas, 71852, where Pastor Rickey Gamble will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. There will not be a public visitation prior to the funeral service. Interment will be immediately following his service at Flint Hill Cemetery; 1031 Bluff Springs Rd., Mineral Springs, Arkansas 71851 under the direction of Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Staff.
