Ms. Gracie Mae Tatum
March 4, 1946 – June 27, 2026
Ms. Gracie Tatum, 80, of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her residence in Texarkana, Texas, on the evening of June 27, 2026. She was surrounded in love with her children and grandchildren at her bedside. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Most importantly she was a Christian lady who loved God.
She was born to the late Mr. Jimmy Tatum and the late Mrs. Jessie Lee Goree-Tatum on March 4, 1946, in Stamps, Arkansas. She spent her formative years going to school at the Lafayette County Training School which later became Ellis School. After leaving school, she obtained her GED and went on to attend Red River Vocational Technical School in Hope. She loved taking care of people’s looks, something she had been doing with her friends, even prior to attending school, so she became a licensed beautician. She always remembered where home was and would occasionally attend Greenville Baptist Church and visit her local friends when she was in Stamps.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Mr. Grady Tatum and Mr. Jimmy Tatum, Jr. She is survived by, her two sons, Mr. James Cal and Mr. John Tatum, both of Texarkana, Texas. Two brothers, Pastor Sylvester (Judy) Tatum of Stamps, Arkansas and Rev. Danny Ray (Lucille) Reynolds, of Georgia. Five sisters, Ms. Vera Jones (Larry Barbine) of Toledo, Ohio, Ms. Marie Dedner, of Prescott, Arkansas, Ms. Rose Edwards, of Texarkana, Texas, Ms. Gwen Richards and Ms. Brenda Kay Long, both of Stamps, Arkansas. Six grandchildren, Justin Tatum and Johndrea Tatum, Both of Texarkana, Arkansas, Amber Tatum of Texarkana, Texas, Abdul “Baan” Tatum, Amirah Tatum, and Hafeez Tatum, all of Clinton, Mississippi. Five great-grandchildren, Jemon Tatum, Justin Tatum, Jr, Kyre Landry, Mekhi Tatum of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Westyn Slaughter, of Texarkana, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other relatives.
Her service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas, where her brother, Pastor Sylvester Tatum, will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. Interment will be immediately following the service at Lakeside Cemetery, Gravel and Valley Street, Stamps, Arkansas, 71860.
