Eddie Dean Jones, Jr.
February 6, 1961 – March 3, 2025
Mr. Eddie Dean Jones, Jr, 64, of Texarkana, Arkansas, formerly of Buckner, Arkansas, passed away at his residence in Texarkana, Arkansas after a medical emergency. Mr. Jones was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed having a good time, making those who came into contact with him laugh and lived his life to the fullest. Most importantly he had rededicated his life to Christ and became an active member at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church. He served the Texarkana Arkansas School District as a bus driver.
Mr. Jones was born in Buckner. Arkansas to the late Mr. Eddie Dean Jones, Sr. and the late Mrs. Melvin McGee – Jones on February 6, 1961. He grew up surrounded by the love of his siblings and a community of loving people in Buckner who seemed to act like family. He went on to graduate from Stamps High School, Yellowjackets Class of 1979 and attended Red River Vocational Technical School where he was trained to be a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) professional. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and loved the Golden State Warriors. He also loved fishing, mechanic’s work and listening to music, especially R and B, Gospel and Blues.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by both of his parents and is survived by his wife, Kathy Handy – Jones, who has been by his side for thirty-four years. His children, Ashley Jones of Texarkana, Arkansas, Eddie Darrell Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas, Elicia Dene-Jones Ray of Jonesboro, Arkansas Bernard Brown, and Travon Brown both of Texarkana, Arkansas. His grandchildren, Andrea Kendrick, Ja’Lyiah Johnson and Maesyn James-Roy. Four Brothers, Mr. Matthew Sterling of Stamps, Mr. Jonny (Alverta) Jones of Houston, Texas, Mr. Darnell Jones of Texarkana, Arkansas and Mr. Billy (Tyris) Jones of Stamps. His only sister, Mrs. Marilyn (Jessie) Chappel of Magnolia, Arkansas. A host of other family members, friends and former co-workers.
There will be a Memorial service held for Mr. Jones at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2505 Delaware Street, Texarkana, Arkansas 71854 on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. where Pastor Cedric Sharp will serve as the Officiant and will deliver words of comfort to the family and friends under the direction of Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home of 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas.
