Mrs. Doris Smith

September 13, 1952 – June 7, 2024

Mrs. Doris Odneal Smith 71, of Bryant Arkansas, formerly of Lewisville, Arkansas passed away peacefully at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Arkansas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin wife to her husband, Mr. Curtis Smith until his death until 2019. She was a devoted Special Education Teacher in several school districts in Southwest Arkansas and retired from Hope Public Schools. Most importantly she was an active member of St. James Baptist Church in Lewisville, Arkansas.

Mrs. Smith was born to the late Mr. Tommy Martin and the late Ms. Rosetta Odneal, September 13, 1952, in Columbus, Mississippi where she lived and went to her formative years of school until graduation when she decided to attend Jackson State University to major in Education. She was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Mr. Tommy Martin and Mrs. Rosetta Jones, her husband of 39 years Mr. Curtis Smith, a brother, Mr. Willie James Jones and brother in law, Mr. Tommy Lowery.

She is survived by and leaves to cherish her many memories, two daughters, Ms. Cassie Smith of Bryant, Arkansas and Mrs. Jasmine (Ramone) Martin of Alexander, Arkansas. Her bonus children, Mr. Christopher Smith of Lewisville, Arkansas and Ms. Rosland Smith of Malvern, Arkansas. Her grandchildren, Kensley Martin, Kaiser Martin, Emery Dismuke, Kyler Martin and Kaleb Martin. Two bonus grandchildren, D’Rayle Standoak and KeChone Smith. Four maternal brothers, Mr. Clifford (Brenda) Odneal of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Mr. Wyman (Connie) Jones of Navarre, Florida, Mr. Harry Jones of Bryant, Arkansas and Mr. Jack Jones of Meridian, Mississippi. Paternal brothers, Mr. Thomas (Amy) Martin, III of Temecula, California, Mr. Walter (Janice) Martin of Columbus, Mississippi, Mr. Sherman (Alecia) Martin of Fontana, California, Mr. Willie T. Wilson of Jackson, Mississippi, Mr. Johnny (Tracie) Wilson of Ashburn, Virginia. Her maternal sister, Mrs. Patricia Lowery and a paternal sister, Mrs. Deborah (Albert) Lewis of Parrish, Alabama. Special friends, Ms. Georgia Smith, Ms. Virginia Brown, Ms. Phyllis Hamilton, Ms. Lois Brock, Ms. Lillie Willis, Ms. Linda Thomas, Ms. Angela Fulton and Mr. Glen Holly. A special niece, Ms. Mary Jo Kelly. Special cousins, Ms. Susie Odneal, Ms. Peggy Odneal, Mrs. Pam Odneal Williams-Patton and Ms. Inez Smith. Her long-time friends and special neighbors, Mr. Fred and Mrs. Linda Harris.

Her service will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas 71860 where Pastor Roderick Trotter will serve as Officiant and Eulogist, under the direction of the Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Staff. Public visitation will be held at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel Friday June 21, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. unti 3:30 P.M. Interment will be immediately following her service at Wise Cemetery, Highway 29 North of Lewisville, Arkansas at Cemetery Road.

Masks are optional but highly recommended for the sake of those who will be around, in front of, beside and behind you. Let us all be mindful of their health, safety and well-being.
