Ms. Clara Cooper – Martin, 71, of Idabel, Oklahoma, passed away at Paris Regional Medical Center, on the evening of June 14, 2025, after a brief illness. Ms. Martin was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County, a licensed cosmetologist, and served as a Nurse’s aide until her retirement, in her spare time, she loved playing dominoes, dancing and spending time with each of her grandchildren, and most importantly, a Christian and member of Mt. Sinai Church of God and Christ.

Ms. Martin was born on January 31, 1954, to the late Mr. Aster Cooper and the late Mrs. Clara B. Walker-Cooper. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Mr. Larry Martin, three brothers, Mr. Vaster Cooper, Mr. Robert Butler, and Mr. Gary Butler. Four sisters, Ms. Ester Cooper-Watson, Ms. Verdell Cooper, Ms. Vivian Cooper and Ms. Ollie Mae Wise, and her only daughter, Mrs. Vivian Mutagamba.

She is survived by her only son, Pastor William (Sandra) Cooper of Idabel, Oklahoma, her son-in-law, Mr. Martin, Mutagamba of Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Four brothers, Superintendent Aster (Trealous) Cooper of Hugo, Oklahoma, Mr. Alonzo Cooper (District Missionary Virgil Cooper) of Idabel, Oklahoma, Bishop, William Cooper of Texarkana, Texas and Mr. L.T. Nelson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Two sisters, Ms. Affie Gordon of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Ms. Effie (Charles, Uncle Bo) Boyles, of Oak Harbor Washington. Seven grandchildren, Sharae (Andrew) Beverly, of Idabel, Oklahoma, Natya (Shannon) Walker, of Jackson, Tennessee, Aundria (BaShawn) Moore, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William K-Von Cooper, of Dallas, Texas, Caleb (Elizabeth) Perry of Florida, Zefaney, "ZJ", Cooper of Idabel, Oklahoma and Bryan Mutagamba, of Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Twenty-seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her service will be held at Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ, 1012 SW Murray, Idabel, Oklahoma 74745 at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday morning, June 28, 2025, where the Superintendent Aster Cooper, Jr will serve as Officiant and lead Eulogist. Her interment will be at Antioch Cemetery off U.S. Highway 259, Haworth, Oklahoma.

Masks are optional but highly recommended for the sake of health and well-being of others.
