Mr. Calvin J. Parker

April 22, 1941 – January 16, 2024

Calvin Junior Parker, 82, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Bradley, Arkansas, was born on Tuesday, April 22, 1941 in Bradley, Arkansas to the late Mr. Booker Parker and the late Mrs. Martha Strickland - Parker. During his youth, Calvin attended Bumpham Elementary and Middle Schools. After completing the ninth grade he went to work to help support the family on the Allan Ranch. He worked with horses, cows, bulls, and farming.

Calvin left Bradley to live in Los Angeles, California where he resided and worked for Meyers Drum Company with his youngest brother, James. Finally, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked for Safeway Company as a Freight Clerk. In 1975 he married Sharon M. Kingsbury, but the marriage was annulled, together they had one son, Kevin Parker.

Calvin acknowledged faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized. While attending church later in life, he enjoyed singing joyfully in the choir. He also enjoyed cooking and watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. He was methodical and meticulous. He was very strict in his routines and particularly in his standards. Yet, he was a fun-loving and giving person.

Although Calvin suffered from various health issues, he had faith and a mental disposition to fight and win. He was greatly esteemed and supported by a team of dedicated Doctors and Nurses and various Staff at Denver Health Medical Center. Their care and professionalism along with his strong will resulted in 82 years of living an active and independent life.

Calvin’s fight came to an end late Tuesday night, January 16, 2024. He has now joined the great cloud of witnessed (Hebrews 12:1); he has been gathered with loved ones who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters. Calvin is survived by his son Kevin Parker, two sisters Rodessa (Parker) Simmons and Nettie Kay and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. They will continue to cherish his memory.

His service will be held at Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas 71860, on Saturday January 27, 2024, where Pastor Eric Parker will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. There will be a public visitation at Hamilton-Davis Chapel on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. Interment will be immediately following his service at Damascus Cemetery 2761 Columbia Road 42, Village Arkansas 71749.
