Alvin Callahan, Jr.

April 18, 1956 – June 3, 2025

Mr. Alvin Callan, Jr. passed away peacefully at Christus St. Michael Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas after a long battle with health issues. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. When he was able to work, he was a logger and tree-trimmer.

Mr. Callahan was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Mr. Alvin Callahan, Sr, and the late Ms. Alberta Stills on April 18, 1956. He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Mr. Jessie Junior Johnson and a son, Mr. Orlando Callahan.

He is survived by and leaves to cherish his many memories, one son, Mr. Anthony Jerome (Angela) Callahan and one daughter, Mrs. Lawandra (William T.) Lee. Two brothers, Mr. Curtis (Darlene) Harris of Las Puente, California and Mr. Jimmy (Laura) Harris of Thousand Oaks, California. One sister, Ms. Shirley Ann Harris of California. A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special friend and long-time caretaker, Ms. Beverly Long.

When Mr. Callahan was in his younger years, he was a remarkable athlete. He as well was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended Bradley High School, where he excelled in track and football. He was a proud Bradley Bear. Later in life he united with God’s Place of Bradley where he worshipped when he could.

Mr. Callahan’s service will be held on Saturday June 21, 2025, at 2:30 P.M. in God’s Place of Bradley, 316 East 4th Street, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 29 and Arkansas State Highway 160, Bradley Arkansas 71826, where pastor Gladney Hunt will serve as the Officiant and Eulogist. A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, in the Hamilton-Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 415 East First Street, Stamps, Arkansas, from 11:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. Interment will be immediately following his service in St. Mary Cemetery Lafayette County Road 2, Bradley, Arkansas, 71826.
